Early New England Research hero

Welcome to the third issue of LEGACY. It is hard to believe that it was just a year ago when we launched this newsletter and our website Legacy.AmericanAncestors.org. At that time, less than 100 NEHGS members were part of the Henry Bond Society—our circle of loyal and generous members who have included our organization in their long-term financial planning. I am pleased to report that the Henry Bond Society has grown by 25% over the past year!
Whether including NEHGS in a will, adding our organization as a retirement account beneficiary, or creating a life-income arrangement such as a charitable gift annuity, more and more members are finding a way to make a lasting legacy, ensuring that future generations will have access to an ever-growing array of resources at American Ancestors.
In this issue, we highlight the most common and perhaps simple form of legacy philanthropy—gifts by will—also known as bequests. Since Dr. Henry Bond left NEHGS its first bequest in 1859, hundreds of our members have followed his lead.
There is no doubt that we exist today thanks to the powerful impact of bequests. These investments allow NEHGS not only to thrive in the present, but to remain a valued resource for generations of family historians to come.

Gratefully yours,
